Epic Web Studios's most recent project has been to create and maintain the social media presence for the "Erie Gives" event. The event, on August 2nd from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., is an opportunity to make online donations to nonprofit organizations from around the Erie area. The Erie Community Foundation will then match a percentage of each donation that you make. The more donations that are made to a nonprofit, the more matching funds they will receive. As part of the Erie Community Foundation's 75th Anniversary, they will share $75,000 among all the participating nonprofits.
Michael Haas, the Social Media Strategist at Epic Web, stated, "Social Media is important to getting the word out about major events and causes. By using tools such as Facebook and Twitter, an organization can capitalize on the ability to disseminate information extremely quickly to a large amount of people. By creating custom Facebook tabs for Erie Gives, we have essentially created a mini version of the Erie Gives website right on Facebook. Not only can you donate right from Facebook, but all the relevant information on the event is right there for everyone to see."
