The Challenge:
Lack of Visibility in AI Search
We always say that a good website is never truly finished. Even if a new website puts your business on the map, it requires continuous effort to sustain that momentum.
Epic’s partnership with Mobile Medical Corporation (a nationally recognized provider of on-site occupational health services) began with website development in 2021. Over the years, it grew to encompass organic SEO, content strategy, local search optimization, and Google Ads. For a long time, this approach – guided by traditional SEO analytics and keyword strategy - was successful.
By early 2025, MobMed had amassed a solid base of real content, covering topics that construction executives, safety directors, and insurance administrators (its target audiences) genuinely search for. But the performance of that content in search engines had begun to plateau. The content existed, but search engines and AI engines just weren’t surfacing it.
The root cause wasn’t effort — it was structure. Artificial intelligence (ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity) has fundamentally shifted how content is evaluated, rewarding pages that directly and authoritatively answer the question being asked rather than pages optimized around keyword density.
MobMed’s content wasn’t built to that new standard yet:
- Answer-first formatting: leading with the direct answer, not background or preamble
- FAQPage schema: machine-readable Q&A markup that AI engines can parse and cite
- Question-intent headers: headings phrased the way real users search, not corporate-speak
- Conversational authority: expert-voice content that reads like a knowledgeable human, not a brochure
The Solution:
Epic's AI-First Content Program
In mid-2025, Epic began to systematically restructure MMC’s website to better align with how AIs read, retrieve, and understand content. Existing service pages were rebuilt around the four pillars above:
- Answer-first leads
- FAQ schema
- Question-matched headers
- Expert-voice rewrite
This was not a traditional SEO refresh. It was a content architecture overhaul designed to make the entire site parseable, citable, and rankable in an AI-driven search environment — from Google AI Overviews to ChatGPT and Perplexity.

The Result:
A 20-Position Site-Wide Shift in 90 Days
Rankings that had held flat for six months moved dramatically — not on a handful of pages, but across the entire site — within 90 days. Daily GSC data shows positions of 31–35 through September of 2025, then an abrupt drop to 11–17 beginning October 1 — the signature of a structural content change that Google processes as a broad quality signal.
Individual query highlights:
- “Stretch and flex construction”: Not in top 25 → Position 2.8 (23 clicks)
- “Event medics”: Position 17.1 → 7.7 (+286% clicks)
- “OSHA recordable criteria”: Not in top 25 → Position 9.1 (13 clicks)
- “3rd party drug testing companies”: Position 5.4 → 3.6
GA4 engagement data confirmed the quality signal: AI-first pages averaged 59 seconds of active engagement versus 48.8 seconds site-wide — with the top-performing piece (“Marijuana in the Workplace”) reaching 86.1 seconds. Employers who spend a minute reading an answer aren’t bouncing — they’re qualified leads in the research phase.
